TV News: Emmy Award-Winning Journalist
I spent more than a decade working in local television news, from a line producer working the overnight shift to the senior executive producer of a newsroom that delivered 54 hours of live news each week. TV news requires fast and solid decision-making, attention to detail, and meeting all deadlines. In 2018, I was honored to receive a Heartland Regional Emmy Award for coverage of a tornado that hit Midtown Tulsa in 2017. I arrived at work shortly after the tornado struck and spent nearly 12 hours “in the booth”, as they say, producing live continuous coverage of the storm’s aftermath. This was obviously devastating in many ways for our community, and the place I call home; however, I was honored to be trusted to lead our teams and our on-air coverage.
yale summer writers’ workshop 2024
I was selected to attend the 2024 Yale Summer Writers’ Workshop! I participated in the personal essay/memoir workshop where I collaborated with talented professors and peers to workshop pieces each of us wrote for the session. Taking part in a workshop of this caliber was a career and personal highlight for me!

Motherhood is full of changes, and I love writing as a way to unpack all of the different feelings that come with such an important role. I was honored to have this essay titled “Girl in the Mirror” published by the amazing platform Mother.ly. Sometimes, we come full circle as we look at the reflection in the mirror.

Essays have the power to elevate your cause, raise awareness, or simply speak to your heart. In 2022, I submitted a piece titled “Beads” to the Tulsa City-County Library’s Creative Writing Contest. This piece captures a moment in time in my motherhood and grief journey. I was honored to receive 2nd place recognition.

Marketing videos highlight the amazing things your organization has to offer and allow you to reach the people that matter most. I enjoy determining the story an organization wants to tell, writing scripts and overseeing the edit of these types of videos, like this marketing video for Oklahoma Family Network. OFN provides hope, support and resources to families in Oklahoma who have children with special healthcare needs.

Live Production
I have extensive background creating live content for news, but I have also produced live events and shows for important organizations. Whether it’s advocacy, fundraising, or simply raising awareness, live production can bring urgency and a unique kind of storytelling to your cause. The “show rundown” for a broadcast of this magnitude takes a lot of planning and work and is an essential component of every live event I produce.
